I'm not sure they'd need a secondary armament, besides what their handler would carry as a sidearm. For which purposes I'd favor an M79 grenade gun with buckshot and and incendiary rounds. Did they make a slug round for that? They should have.

Re: POLL: Extinct Dwarf Elephants. Yes, I believe tassles would prevent an unnecessary puncturing of me and my guests by my elephant. They would also dress it up real purdy. I mean it wouldn't be a vicious one, but those tusks are big and anything could happen.
At my command though, it would KILL.
